Participation in VI International forum “Sea tourism”

On the 26th-27th of June, 2014, VI International Forum “Sea Tourism” has been held in Saint-Petersburg within the framework of the “UNITED RUSSIA” Party Project “Saint-Petersburg – the Sea Capital of Russia”. In this forum took part representatives of “Marine Technics” – head of fleet modernization department Konstantin Barkanov and brand manager MAN Gennady Pashinin.

The main goal of the Forum is discussion and working-out of new mechanisms which can provide further impetus to development of sea and river tourism in our country.

At the Forum such questions were discussed as modernization of our cruise fleet, infrastructure of sea and river tourist routes, improvement of related services, development of regulatory system.

In the event took part more than 300 representatives of federal and regional government, cruise business community, professional unions and commercial organizations.

Within the framework of the Forum the conference “Sea tourism” was held where head of fleet modernization department of “Marine Technics” Konstantin Barkanov presented a report “Modernization of Russian passenger speed fleet – results and prospects”.

As the result of modernization program in 2014, 13 crafts “Meteor”, “Voskhod”, “Polesje” and “Zarya” were refitted. Positive technical and economical characteristics of modernized crafts were confirmed.

The following conclusion and proposal were made:

Conclusions:
1) Russia has operating passenger speed fleet modernization program
2) There is successive operational experience of passenger speed fleet refitting
3) Modernization program is supported by regional authorities and is financed by local budgets
4) The proposed program is supported by asssociation of owners of passenger of St.Petersburg ships

Proposals:
1) Create a working team with the participation of representatives of Federal agency of sea and river transport (Rosmorrechflot) for experience extension in regions
2) Create a working team of Marine Council to develop proposals for transport committee of Saint-Petersburg Administration on refitting of Saint-Petersburg speed vessels.
