The ceremony, held on Baltiysky Zavod in Saint-Petersburg, was attended by Sergei Kirienko, CEO of Rosatom Corporation, Artur Chilingarov, member of the Federation Council and the President of the State Polar Academy, Aleksey Rakhmanov, President of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, and others. Valentina Matvienko has become the lady sponsor of this “newborn” vessel.

Nuclear-powered icebreaker Arktika is the first of three vessels, being built in order to renew nuclear ice-breaker fleet of Russia. The newest nuclear technologies have been implemented during the building of the lead project 22220.

Marine Technics company has contributed to the equipment of the biggest nuclear icebreaker by supplied the following: sewage water treatment plant (capacity 29.6 m3/day), set of centrifugal pumps, set of valves and towing equipment with damper device.

It’s worth noting that Arktika has no analogues in the whole world and this vessel provides fundamentally new opportunities for our country. The icebreaker will have been delivered to FSUE Atomflot by the end of 2017.
