Head of Design Bureau at the conference “Russian shipbuilding. Import substitution”

On 6-7 April the forth International conference “Russian shipbuilding. Import substitution” was held in Saint Petersburg. Alexander Popov, head of Design Bureau (“Marine Technics”), presented his report on “Project of universal cargo and passenger vessel for inland waterways of the North-East Region in Russia”.

Designed by MT and presented to the conference members the project “Voyage 85MT” is a universal solution which considers all route features and principal requirements of ship owners. This project has been developed since 2014.

The project “Voyage 85MT” is a universal cargo and passenger ship, with the person capacity up to 250 passengers, provides comfort and safety according to the latest requirements. Technical features: steel two-propelled motor vessel with advanced tank deck, three superstructure decks and aft engine room, LOA – 85.8 m, draught – 1.6-2.0 m, displacement – 1100 t.

The project includes everything: there are solutions for luggage transportation and large-sized heavy cargos, possibility for vehicle shipping, special attention is paid to passenger accommodation; fuel autonomy is provided, fresh water plants, sewage water treatment plants, combined sewage system and other equipment are installed on board. Moreover the ice-class hull allows to extend navigation period which is extremely important for North conditions.

The issue of passenger and cargo transportation on Siberian rivers is highly relevant for our country: very often waterways are the only means of transport for locals. The report by “Marine Technics” revealed an urgent question and triggered a keen interest among the participants.

Import substitution” includes issues of world shipbuilding and marine Russian fleet, as well as development prospects in shipbuilding industry of the Russian Federation, means of state support in the field for import substitution of marine accessory equipment and other questions.

Traditionally, profile ministries and authorities, Russian shipbuilding and ship repairing factories as well as of river field, shipping companies, design bureaus and scientific organizations, classification societies, Russian and foreign suppliers of marine accessories take part in this event.
