The program “Modernization of the high-speed fleet of Russia” – a new project in the Republic of Tatarstan

In the Republic of Tatarstan  two speed passenger vessels have been reequipped  within the Program «Modernization of the high-speed fleet of Russia”.

In March 2015 by order of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan a new joint project was started of the Ministry of Transport and Roads of the Republic of Tatarstan, the shipping company “Tatflot” and company “Marine Technics” on the reequipment of the first two-speed passenger vessels “Meteor-240” and “Meteor-249”. Main engines on these vessels will be replaced by more modern and efficient ones; the interior, navigation and communication systems will also be modified. In this project, the company “Marine Technics” is not only a project and program developer and equipment supplier, but also a contractor for the installation work by specialists of its service department.

This reequipment takes place within the framework of the program “Revival of the inter-regional passenger transportation by speed river transport in the middle and upper Volga.”

The first flight of the first modernized passenger ship “Meteor-240” is scheduled for May 2015. The vessel will operate on the tourist line Kazan – Bulgars with the length of 140 km.

It should be noted that this is the 23-speed passenger ship, reequipped upon the program “Modernization of the high-speed fleet of Russia” during 3 years of the program.

The program is being successfully implemented with the support of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tatarstan, Tyumen Region Government, the Department of Transport and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and Yugra, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District.
