Signed contract on vessel modernization running the Fontanka river and the Moyka river

On 21^st June within the forum SmartTRANSPORT-2019 held in Saint Petersburg MT-Group, OOO, SPb State-owned Institution External Transport Agency and Astra Marine, OOO signed trilateral agreement to switch vessels running pleasure lines on the Fontanka river and the Moyka river to fully-electric movement.

     Electric engines allow to cut down fuel costs by 60%, thus, significantly reducing pollution by emissions and noise level. The project will pay back in less than 10 years. New transport facilities with electric motors will be created on the basis of existing boats Karakatitsa and, according to Andrey Kuznetsov, general director of Astra Marine, will operate on the line in 2020.

External Transport Agency undertakes to place battery charging devices on the berths and to prepare facilities for electric-driven vessels. Average voyage duration is one hour; battery running time is two hours. The battery will be recharged for 15 minutes during passenger pick-up and drop-off.
